Oscar Wilde, born on October 16, 1854, in Dublin, Ireland, was a renowned playwright, novelist, and poet, who became one of the most celebrated and acerbic wit writers of the Victorian era. Educated at Trinity College, Dublin, and Magdalen College, Oxford, Wilde made his name as a champion of the aesthetic movement, advocating for 'art for art's sake'.
